★★★★★“BE AWARE, this location uses tactics similar to scammers. READ BELOW. Upon rental I was given by email the vehicle conditions report showing only 4 scratches. Vehicle was physically located about 150meters away from the office. Before driving away I did take pictures and video of the condition of the vehicle. Upon return I was surprised to get a charge close to 200€ for what they called a surface scratch. I had to pay a taxi, waste time and money to GO BACK to the rental office to show them the photo I TOOK showing that scratch was there before I picked up the vehicle. They refunded the damage charges and said some lame “often used” reason.. (very poor excuse in my opinion)….. Quote: “Oh, may be the car was damaged by someone else in the garage” (NOT very likely as HERTZ parking area is at the end of the lot where very little traffic happens). I was fortunate to have done my due diligence prior to leaving with vehicle. Having taken photos and video. It looks to me they hide existing damages in the original report and expose them when you return the car claiming it was the client who damaged the car. This vehicle had literally 4 small damages listed, the rest was perfect.. the fact they didn’t list the fifth one because they didn’t see it is very unlikely to me, specially when is right in front and very obvious. See photos. I CHOSE NOT TO RENT FROM OTHER LOCAL COMPANIES, EXPECTING MORE FROM HERTZ, the one I usually rent from in Canada. Do yourself a favor:: INSPECT VEHICLE VERY WELL PRIOR TO DRIVING AWAY. AND TAKE MANY PHOTOS AND VIDEOS.”
★★★★★“I booked a SW class car, which, according to the Hertz site, can hold 5 pieces of baggage. I reserved it 2-3 weeks before the trip. However, when we arrived at the Hertz office, it turned out they didn't have that class available at all (why did you rent out that car?). We were offered a small SUV that only fits 3 pieces of baggage. They tried to change the car twice, but neither could hold all our baggage. After a long wait for their manipulations (and that is after a 15+ hour trip from Canada), they finally found a car that could hold our luggage. But, what a surprise – we were charged 704 euros instead of the initial 360 euros, which we had in our confirmation. I've travelled extensively and rented cars worldwide - if the car you booked is unavailable, the agency must upgrade the class free of charge, since it is their fault that they overbook cars. Moreover, they added several extra services I never booked, and these weren't offered or discussed with me beforehand. The total cost for a mid-size car was 704 euros for 2 days, which I find outrageous and feel is a scam. I will never use this company again and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.”
★★★★★“We rented a van to carry out a move. Both the pick-up and the return were on the same day without any issues. The problem arises when they have to refund the €200 deposit. They’re quick to hold the amount instantly, but when it comes to returning it, I’m still waiting — it’s been about 17 days since I returned the van. The girl mentioned at the return that it would take some time, but this is an unacceptable practice. I understand that they need to check that the vehicle is returned with fuel and in good condition, but it’s another thing to not release the amount and expect the bank to handle it automatically, which results in poor service for their customers. We have used HERTZ on other occasions, and this experience at the Alicante branch really damages the brand’s reputation. In short, if you need to rent a vehicle, there are better and more reliable options at the station.”
★★★★★“All went smooth when picking up and bringing back the car. Friendly staff. Car was perfect.”
